I teach K

As I get ready to go back to school and start my 4th year (excited and nervous) I think about the kids I will get and where they will come in. Some will know letters and sounds, maybe a few sight words, and other various skills. Others will come in and they may not know a single letter.
Most parents don't know what their kids will leave kindergarten knowing. They may think kindergarten is still naps, coloring, and maybe learning letters. They don't realize their babies will be reading and writing when they leave my room. I think lots of parents are shocked when they come on meet the teacher and I tell them where their kids (hopefully) will be once they leave. A lot of parents wish they would have started earlier practicing with them, and some already have started working with them.
I pour my heart and soul into these kids. I work with them, cry with them, celebrate with them, and support them. I can't stand when people think that I don't do anything. That kindergarten teachers just color all day or play. I have held my tongue many times and many times I politely correct them. One person even said to me one time "are you even certified? Wasn't that a waste of money just to play?"

I absolutely love my job. There are days that I want to bang my head against the wall and there are days where I want to party and celebrate my kids successes.

xoxo- Bobbie
